Let it rain

The ocean blue sky

The silence of the clouds drifting by

The moan and Crackle of the trees as their leaves float gently to the ground curling in the heat of the sun.

Let it rain, let it rain.

The ground all cracked and dry

The grass no longer green, its leafy appearance lays limp and dying.

No gentle breeze to cool my face

No birds singing in the tree tops

No wild life on their daily walks for food

No insects buzzing around my ears

Silence, silence is all around me, silence is all I have

Let it rain, let it rain.

Nighttime comes around all too soon

The flip flapping of the moths on my windows

The one eyed owl sits perched on my washing line making his nightly sounds. “hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo!” As he waits his next meal.

The full moon shines bright making ghostly shadows in the clouds as they slowly drift by, there are no stars to be seen in the sky tonight.

My black and white cat Lefty is meowing at my door with his nighttime offering.

I am waiting, waiting for the promise of rain to come as I close my eyes and drift away.
